The D-TAC Difference
More Than Just Holes in Paper
The self-defense training philosophy on which D-TAC was founded provides our direction. “There is more to self defense than just making holes in paper.”
D-TAC Academy was founded on a very specific set of principles.
Maintain an Objective Based training environment; one, which provides the students with options for the attainment of their goals.
Enable the students to grow by not only emphasizing the How, but the Why skills and tasks are preformed in a specific manner.
Train the mind as hard as the body in a realistic and challenging environment.
Mental preparation and proper mindset are an unarguable requirement that will enable the shooter to prevail under stress.
Stress inoculation in an intense and realistic training environment is necessary for success in life or death encounters.
Students must have a clearly defined training path that leads to success.
D-TAC Academy's Curriculum
Self-defense combatives and the making of a gunfighter cannot be accomplished unless the student has completed the mental, emotional and physical preparations essential to accomplishing the tasks required for survival.
The D-TAC curriculum is designed to meet the needs of those essential preparations. Broken into three levels consisting of
4 unique and challenging training segments, D-TAC training provides the students with a clear pathway to success.
Each course building on the last and each segment preparing the student for the ultimate test of their mental and technical abilities. The courses segments flow as seen below.
The Fundamental Skills provide instruction for beginning to intermediate level students. This segment will guide the student through the safe handling and basic operation of the defensive firearm. This segment also begins the mental preparation and physical planning necessary for personal survival. This segment includes self-defense law, medical and personal survival planning courses. Students may register for any of these courses as long as they meet the minimum prerequisite requirements.
Defensive Firearms and Combatives
The Defensive Firearms and Combatives segments immediately follow the Fundamentals segment. These are skills based courses providing all the necessary firearms, tactics and combative techniques required for a well rounded self defense training program. Classes such as Close Quarters and Low Light Pistol are included in this segment along with matching Combatives courses.
Advanced Combatives brings all the skills, techniques and tactics together in a series of challenging courses intended to test the student physically, mentally and emotionally. These courses will push the students to their limits and expose training deficiencies.
At D-TAC we firmly believe that our training methodology provides a clearly defined road to success. Students have the ability to choose the courses they wish to attend as, and when, they feel comfortable. As each student progresses through the training segments they will be building their physical and technical skills as well as their mental and emotional toughness.
We believe this is what sets D-TAC apart from other forms of training. We teach skills in an objective based learning environment. We test the limits of our students. Most important of all, we train the mind. We expose emotional and mental weaknesses. Hesitation and self-doubt are all but eliminated. We lead the student through a process of discovery and provide them not only with the how, but the why. Our desensitization processes harden the student to the outside and internal influences of heightened stress levels. Exposure to those stressors through training successfully modifies the behavior of the participant. This behavioral modification is necessary so that when the student becomes the ruthless, aggressive and decisive defender required, there will be no doubt or hesitation about what needs to be done. We train our students to keep themselves and their loved ones alive. We train them so that they may get home safely every night.
D-TAC training is a combination of physical and mental preparation presented in a logical and progressive manner. It is this process, combined with experienced and respected self defense instructors that makes D-TAC different from the rest.
